Trainee Housing Officer
CONTRACT: Permanent – Full time
SALARY: £30,791 - £47,467 (Inclusive of Distance Islands Allowance) Per Annum
This is a rewarding and challenging opportunity to join a team that provides a wide range of housing services to applicants, tenants and communities across Lewis. We are looking for someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills who is enthusiastic, willing to learn, and able to work sensitively and professionally when dealing with sometimes difficult or complex situations.
Working with support and guidance of experienced colleagues, the post holder will progressively develop the knowledge, skills and confidence required to deliver a responsive and person-centred housing management service. During the traineeship, they will gain practical experience across housing applications and allocations; tenancy management; rent account monitoring and arrears control; estate inspections; neighbourhood issues and antisocial behaviour; tenancy sustainment and partnership working; and identifying property, repair and safety concerns. As their competence develops, the post holder will take on increased responsibility for liaising with tenants, partner agencies, relevant teams and contractors, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to service improvement and performance reporting.
As a Trainee, you will follow a clear milestone-based development pathway, gaining new skills, increased responsibility, and incremental salary progression. You will be expected to complete (up to and including) a Chartered Institute of Housing Level 4 qualification.
