Members of the public are being asked for their views on the refreshed Western Isles Carers Strategy 2027-2032.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar have opened a survey to all members of the community, but views are particularly sought from young carers, unpaid carers, those they care for, supporting organisations and family members.
The survey is open until Monday, 30 November 2026. To access the survey, click here.
The Western Isles Carers Strategy sets out the Western Isles approach to implementing the Carers Scotland Act (2016). The input of the public is urged to help ensure this approach reflects the needs of carers in our islands and provides the support and recognition they deserve.
Annetta Smith, Chair of the Integration Joint Board, said: "Unpaid carers make an invaluable contribution to the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities across the Western Isles. Their dedication and support enable many people to live independently and enjoy a better quality of life.
“As we begin developing the next Western Isles Carers Strategy, we want to hear directly from carers, those they care for, and the organisations and communities that support them. We want to understand what is working well, where improvements are needed, and what priorities should shape future support for carers across our islands.
“I would encourage carers, partner organisations and local communities to take the opportunity to have their say and help us develop a Strategy that reflects the experiences, needs and aspirations of carers across our islands, and helps ensure that carers receive the recognition and support they deserve."
