Alternative comedian Mark Thomas will bring 40 years of comedy experience and protest to Stornoway this December with a new stand-up show.

In his four decades of stand-up, Thomas has garnered a wealth experience and awards. These include eight awards for performing, four for human rights work and one award he invented for himself.

The show in An Lanntair is said to be "one of the oldest surviving alternative comics" celebrating 40 years at the mic.

His achievements include six series of the Mark Thomas Comedy Product for Channel 4, six books and five play scripts, five series of the Manifesto for Radio 4, three Dispatches for Channel 4 and three occasions where he sued the police and won.

He also holds a Guinness World Record for holding 20 protests in 24 hours.

Thomas has also walked 724km around the length of the Israel Wall in the West Bank, been credited with changing the law on tax avoidance, started a comedy club in Palestine with Dr Sam Beale and campaigned successfully for things like trade union recognition for cinema workers and getting multinationals to change their practices.

He is described as being "really, really good" at generally mucking about and "trying to have fun and upset the right people".

Thomas will be at An Lanntair on Thursday 10 December from 8pm to showcase his line-up of political and personal mayhem, jokes, rants and a broadcast into an event of eventful and impactful material.
