Donald S Murray - talent spotted by The Dandy at age 8.

Six decades after first acclaiming his writing when he was eight, the DC Thomson organisation has tipped an islands author’s latest novel for success.

In a review published yesterday (Sunday, March 8), the Sunday Post saluted Donald S Murray’s latest novel, The Loch of the Bees, calling it “a masterful and mesmerising weave of missive, story, song, poetry and reportage”.

This is the latest instalment in Donald’s long-running relationship with DC Thomson publications, which first recognised his writing when he was in primary school.

Now, at age 69, he still fondly remembers winning The Dandy’s My Home Town writing competition back in the mid-1960s.

Fast forward through the decades, and the Dundee-based media company is again applauding Donald’s literary efforts.

Donald, meanwhile, reveals that he started writing Loch of the Bees about 30 years ago and lays out the multiple strands that inspired him to finish the book.

The article is not yet available on the Sunday Post website, but you can read it now via Press Reader.

The Loch of the Bees is out on Saraband on Thursday, March 12.
