WE’RE HIRING | SENIOR SITE ENGINEER

CalMax Construction Ltd is looking for an experienced, motivated Senior Site Engineer to join our team and support the delivery of construction and civil engineering projects throughout the Western Isles.
With an established programme of work covering housing, infrastructure, utilities and commercial construction, we offer the opportunity to take a leading engineering role on varied projects and build a long-term career within a growing local company.

Working closely with our project managers, site managers and delivery teams, you will provide engineering leadership and technical support to ensure works are completed safely, accurately and to the required quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading setting out and surveying activities, including establishing and checking site control, levels and dimensions.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information, identifying discrepancies and resolving queries with the design team.
• Supporting the planning and coordination of site works to achieve programme requirements.
• Checking completed works against drawings and specifications, maintaining inspection records and supporting quality assurance.
• Preparing and maintaining as-built surveys, drawings and engineering records.
• Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers on technical matters.
• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and trainees.
• Promoting safe working practices and contributing to practical solutions that improve project delivery.
• Undertaking topographical and site surveys, assessing site constraints and preparing feasibility reports to inform potential development opportunities.

We’re keen to hear from candidates who have:

• Relevant site engineering experience within construction or civil engineering, with the ability to take ownership of engineering activities.
• Strong setting out and surveying skills, including experience using total stations, GNSS/GPS equipment and levelling instruments.
• The ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical information.
• A relevant qualification in civil engineering, construction or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent practical experience.
• Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using AutoCAD and survey data processing software.
• A practical approach and the confidence to work independently while supporting the wider site team.
• A strong commitment to health and safety, quality and professional standards.
• A full driving licence.

Experience across housing developments, groundworks, drainage, roads or utilities would be particularly relevant.
