Scottish Opera is bringing Hansel and Gretel to Benbecula later this year with a performance at the Sgoil Lionacleit theatre.
For those who have never been to the opera, Hansel and Gretel is a good place to start, promised Scottish Opera.
A spokesperson for the national opera company said: "It’s a first-time friendly introduction to opera, with the story sung in English. Whether it’s your first or fiftieth opera, you don’t need to be an opera expert to enjoy this show.
“If your family loves stories, music and a little bit of magic, this will be the perfect evening out.”
The performance is on Thursday, November 5 and Lionacleit is one 34 venues being visited by the touring Hansel and Gretel production.
The "beautifully crafted" performance, featuring five singers, will last two hours with a 20-minute interval.
It is directed by Lucy Bradley and the piano accompaniment is described as an element that “strips the opera back to its storytelling heart.”
The cast is said to feature current and previous Emerging Artists and, at select venues, a local children’s chorus will help bring this fairy tale to life.
Tickets are on sale at the Scottish Opera website.
