A Celtic music night is set to take place at a central Stornoway church before the HebCelt Festival kicks off.
Celtic Music at Martins will take place on Tuesday 14 July at 7pm in Martin’s Memorial Church, Stornoway. The night is said to bring together a programme of traditional and contemporary music performed by some island musicians, including Tosh and Graham Maclennan, Murdigan Macdonald, Joanne Murray, Cara Morrison, Iain Macaulay, Isobel Anne Martin, Torquil Macleod & Carole Miller, and Chrisann & Friends.
There will be a variety of both Gaelic and English songs, as well as a Gaelic Psalm precenting group led by Calum Martin.
The concert, which is hosted by Rev Donald Michael MacInnes, is being held as a fundraiser to raise money for The Shed Project and the Barn Family Centre.
The Shed Project is a Scottish charity based in Stornoway which provides young people, schools, family and those in recovery the support they need.
The Barn family Centre is their new community hub where initiatives like Safe Families Western Isles, Youth & Schools Membership, Little Stars Intergenerational Group, and Adult Recovery Programmes are all delivered from.
The Barn Family Centre Manager, Christeen Macdonald, said: "HebCelt week is always a wonderful celebration of our music, culture and community. Celtic Music at Martins gives local people and visitors to the town another opportunity to enjoy the incredible musical talent we have here in the islands, while also making a real difference to the lives of local children, young people and families.
“Every donation made on the evening will stay here in our community, helping us continue to provide early intervention, family support and opportunities for people to thrive. We would love to see the church filled with people coming together to celebrate our shared heritage and support the work of The Shed Project and Barn Family Centre."
Entry to the event is by donation to ensure it’s accessible to everyone.
