Local cyclists endure mixed weather conditions in their annual cross-island fundraising challenge.
The Butt to Barra team is on its way to Uist on day two of the cycling trek across the islands. The group made it to Leverburgh around 10:30am to embark on its first ferry to Berneray.
Every year, a group of cyclists team up to raise money for two local charities, Bethesda Hospice and Crossroads Lewis. They left Ness yesterday (Wednesday 1 July), and headed towards Stornoway, making it to Tarbert by the end of day one.

Supporters have been wishing them well along the way, meeting them with encouraging words at each pit stop and commenting online.
Speaking to WLS in June, Butt to Barra participant Murdo Louis MacDonald praised the work of his fellow committee members and the "good spirited team" they have for the challenge.
Every participant is fundraising for either of the two chosen charities. since starting the pages, both fundraisers have gone far beyond their original targets with the Bethesda Hospice fundraising page at £16,458 in donations so far, while the Crossroads Lewis page currently has £13,959.
The Butt to Barra Facebook page is being updated throughout the journey, showing how the team keep spirits high on their long cycle.
