If you are interested in developing your skills in traditional music, this course is designed for you. Lews Castle College Benbecula campus has developed an international reputation for the delivery of traditional Scottish music courses.  Small class sizes, located in a community where Gaelic is spoken, make Uist a unique destination for study.

You will learn from musicians and experts in the local heritage and historical context, and receive one to one tuition in your first study.  A largely practical course, there is an emphasis on performance and arranging, recording, and community engagement, with several performance opportunities locally and on the surrounding islands and further afield.

The HNC music course provides a strong grounding in core disciplines, which allow you to develop and enhance your musical skills and understanding of the music industries, and prepare you for access to degree level education.

We are delighted to offer a £1,000 scholarship to support an off-island student choosing to relocate to study traditional music on the island of Benbecula. Find out more/apply: https://www.lews.uhi.ac.uk/about-us/find-us/benbecula-campus/uist-music-scholarship-2020/
