The rescheduled launch ceilidh for 24-hour Gaelic language Rèidio Cheòlais is tonight (Friday, February 23) at Cnoc Soilleir in Daliburgh.

The event starts at 7 pm and will be broadcast live on Rèidio Cheòlais and live-streamed on YouTube.

Among the musicians marking the launch of the digital radio station are Penny Burgess, Hector Finlayson, Ailean Henderson, Donald Henderson, Iain MacDonald, Niall MacDonald, Michael MacLellan, Arabella Manchester, Shona Masson and Chloe Steele. 

The internet-only station, with a potentially global audience, is based at Cnoc Soilleir in Daliburgh. It is being operated by the Gaelic organisation Ceòlas, with funding from the National Lottery, Bòrd na Gàidhlig, the European Union, the Scottish Government, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, and the Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

Rèidio Cheòlais went on air for the first time last month and features a rolling content programme featuring Gaelic music, song, and chat. 

And if you fancy yourself as a Gaelic radio presenter, slots are still available for volunteers from within Uist and the worldwide Gaelic-speaking community.
