HEALTH CARE ASSISTANTS - Relief, Part-time, Full-time

We are currently looking for kind-hearted, caring and motivated individuals who would like the opportunity to support older people to live life to the fullest and promote their independence.

Bethesda Care Home & Hospice, located in Stornoway, provides care for 21 permanent resident placements. We also provide 9 placements in the Respite Unit for those in our community who require either emergency care or for carers/families to have a much-needed break. During the Covid-19 pandemic we have also provided care to those patients awaiting care packages after a hospital stay. The Hospice provides for up to 4 patients during end of life care or for those who require a day service such as pain management or a respite break.

We have vacancies for Health Care Assistant, day shift & night shift of various hours per week, part-time 18 hours/20 hours/24 hours/30 hours per week and Relief/Bank Health Care Assistant posts and also full-time posts.

You will work within a team of Nurses and Health Care Assistants to meet the needs of our residents. Practical experience is not necessary as we teach you everything you need to know. However, previous experience within the care sector would be an advantage.

A successful Health Care Assistant must have the ability to work well with others, be patient and be able to carry out multiple tasks safely and efficiently. All applicants must have the ability to provide care and comfort to our residents/patients and if not already achieved be willing to work towards a qualification of SVQ Level II or III in Health and Social Care as required by our registered body the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). This course will be paid for you during your employment.

Shift patterns are variable and salary on request.
