Would you like to be involved in an exciting community development project within the Back district, helping both the local community and
Comann Eachdraidh Sgire a' Bhac (Back Historical Society) drive forward their plans for the site of the old school?
The proposals are for a purpose-built heritage centre to be established on the site of the old Back School, alongside a wider site development project.
This project would provide educational, cultural and social facilities and services comparable to many of the thriving community and heritage hubs throughout the rest of the Western Isles.
About us:
Comann Eachdraidh Sgìre a’ Bhac SCIO (Back Historical Society, CEBac) is a charity committed to preserving, maintaining and communicating the heritage and history of the Back area.
Position Overview:
- Lead the project to realise the community hub and heritage centre project alongside efforts to bring about wider site development alongside other key community stakeholders
- Lead our fundraising efforts for the community hub project
- Connect with donors, society members, the architect and design team, secure sponsorships and drive financial support and be the key contact between various consultants and CEBac
Responsibilities:

Identify funding opportunities and submit compelling grant proposals

Liaise with the comann board and technical partners

Develop a site-wide business plan and liaise with potential stakeholders

Liaise with the community and organise community outreach initiatives

Organise fundraising events

Track progress and provide regular reports

Maintain communications on behalf of the Comann and help organise key inputs required from Comann board members and ordinary members as required in order to realise the project.
Qualifications:

Fundraising, grant writing, or business development skills

Excellent communication and organisational skills
-
Self-motivated
- Fluency in Gaelic is an advantage, but not essential.
Contract Details:

Part-time, 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE)

1 year fixed contract (with possibility of contract extension next year)

Salary of £25,000 pro rata
