More than 50 people turned out yesterday (Saturday) to run or walk the Linda Norgrove Foundation’s 10K around the Valtos Peninsula. The rain mostly held off and even with blustery conditions there were some excellent times.
Kerr Mackinnon was the first to cross the line with a time of 38.08 minutes, closely followed by Luke Morrison (42.12) and Tyler Gillies (44.44).
Laura Donaldson was the fastest female runner, crossing the line in 47.50 minutes. Abi Walmsley was the second fastest female (57.28) and LNF Trustee Mhairi Murdoch crossed the line with her partner, Chris Plum, and two children in a buggy in an impressive 58.58.
In total 16 runners completed the 10K in under an hour. Among them were Ciaran Macdonald, aged 13, who finished with a fantastic time of 48.02. Innes Manderson, aged nine, also crossed the finish line in under an hour (55.30). Both undoubtedly future Uig athletes to watch out for.
The Linda Norgrove Foundation would like to thank everyone who participated and all the volunteers who made the event such a success.
