A new mental health group has been launched in Barra following a recent public meeting.
The Lighthouse - Barra Mental Health Support Group is a community-led group focused on connection, wellbeing and supporting positive mental health across Barra.
One of their first moves has been to create a Facebook page to share news about local activities, events, training, useful information and ways to connect.
The page will also accept private messages, but emphasise that this is not a crisis or emergency service as volunteers run the Messenger account and will not be monitored 24/7.
“If you are in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent mental health support in Scotland, call NHS 24 on 111 and choose the mental health option. Samaritans are available free on 116123, 24 hours a day,” the group explains on their Facebook page.
