Harris restaurant Flavour has earned what is believed to be a first for the island in terms of food recognition from the motoring organisation AA.
The Tarbert eatery has been awarded 3 Rosettes, ranking in the influential food guide’s 2026 awards.
The plaudit was announced in London at one of hospitality’s most prestigious calendar events which this year marks 70 years of the AA Rosette award.
The awards recognise the people and businesses setting high standards across the hospitality industry, from restaurants and hotels to spas, inns and B&Bs, with a particular focus on the people whose dedication shapes the guest experience.
Operated for the past decade by husband and wife team, Chris and Nicola Loye are “absolutely over the moon” by the award, which they believe is a first for a restaurant in the Outer Hebrides.
After receiving their coveted AA plate trophy on Monday evening, the couple posted: “From starting Flavour around our dining table in our living room in 2017, to welcoming guests into our kitchen here in Harris, this feels like a truly extraordinary moment for us.
“Three AA Rosettes recognise restaurants that are an outstanding culinary destination that achieves standards demanding national recognition well beyond its local area. Reaching this level here in the Outer Hebrides makes it all the more special.”
