The main pier at Leverburgh was a strange sight this morning, empty of ferry traffic, at the beginning of a period of disruption that will last until Sunday 13 September.

MV Loch Portain has been removed from service and is in Greenock for further investigations into the vibration levels on all four engines and associated gearboxes.

In a service update, CalMac said a full report with recommendations had been received and was under review.

The vessel will undergo further tests and trials in the Clyde as investigations continue.
An update on progress will be provided next Monday (31 August).

MV Loch Bhrusda had been on loan to the Leverburgh to Berneray route but was returned to cover the Mallaig to Small Isles route as of today (Tuesday 25 August).

No ferries will go from Leverburgh main pier until Sunday 13 September. In the meantime, two other ferries will connect Harris to the Uists.

The MV Pabbay Lass will operate from Leverburgh Pontoons and the Fisherman's Pier in Berneray. It is scheduled to leave the pontoons at 07.30am and 4.30pm and will depart the Fisherman's Pier at 8.15am and 5.15pm.

It can accommodate a maximum of 12 passengers (including up to five infants), dogs and push bikes which customers must carry up and down the steps to the vessel. However, it is not suitable for customers with limited mobility.

The MV Glen Sannox has begun operating an interisland service between Tarbert and Lochmaddy from yesterday (Monday 24 August) until Sunday 13 September.
