Shellfish are now safe to eat again in Loch Roag: Miavaig and East Loch Roag, according to experts after they reported finding water quality has returned to safe levels from a naturally occurring toxic high detected over the past few weeks.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar's Environmental Health team said it has been notified that the raised levels of naturally occurring bivalve shellfish biotoxins at Loch Roag: Miavaig and East Loch Roag have returned to safe levels and that the warning against eating shellfish from these areas has now been lifted.
