Hebridean Air Services (HAS) has officially launched its new aircraft to fly the Stornoway/Benbecula route.
The inter-island courier operated the maiden flights of the newest addition to its fleet – the Tecnam P2012 Traveller – taking to the skies on 24 April and becoming the first UK operator to bring the aircraft into service.
The aircraft – which is described by the air service as a “sleek, modern twin-engine plane" – is now officially in service, bringing what the operator describes as “a new level of comfort and reliability to our Stornoway – Benbecula route”.
HAS reports that its Britten-Norman BN-2B-26 Islander seven to nine-seater aircraft will continue to connect Oban with Coll, Tiree, and Colonsay. And the older craft will still be used to support the new Tecnam on the Stornoway/Benbecula flight occasionally.
