Lovats Supermarkets’ stores at Balivanich and Carnan are up for sale with an asking price of £840,000.
The two outlets, with a combined annual net turnover in excess of £1.5 million, are being sold through Cornerstone Business Agents and described as “vital for the residents of the islands”.
The two businesses are family-owned, beginning with the opening of the Carnan store in 1987 and Balivanich in 2006.
The stores trade under the Nisa brand, with the supply of goods coming from the Co-Op Group as well as a selection of other independent suppliers. Due to their location, the business has significant storage space that includes walk-in chillers and freezers.
Both shops have Post Office services and extend to 341 square metres at Carnan, while the much larger Balivanich outlet has 900 square metres. As well as stock storage space, the listing notes that there is potential to add hot food counters or a café.
The sale listing adds: “The sale of these two Lovats Supermarkets offers an outstanding opportunity to a prospective buyer looking for a complete lifestyle change and to escape the mainland. The businesses are only 15 minutes apart so complement each other operationally and can be managed accordingly.
“Although the location may seem remote, it is worth noting that Glasgow is only a 45-minute flight away as well as frequent ferry services being available.”
The guide price is £840,000 plus stock at valuation.
