“Sustainable Rural Lives - International Film Narratives and Inspiring Climate Action Documentaries” is the thought-provoking theme of next week’s Hebrides International Film Festival.
Hitting big screens across the islands from Wednesday, September 24 to 27, the film festival promises a cinematic world of diverse film offerings from around the globe.
Linking community halls and arts centres the length of the islands, this year’s sustainability theme is rooted in the realities of island life, exploring how communities around the globe are adapting and thriving in a changing world.
On the bill is a “compelling curation” of current Scottish and International films that both connect to island culture and issues and present perspectives from around the globe. As well as special screenings, there will also be Q&A sessions with film-makers, masterclasses for aspiring creatives, and “lots of exciting events.”
This year’s on-screen line-up is expected to be as diverse and compelling as before, featuring a mix of hard-hitting documentaries and compelling dramas.
The festival’s commitment to showcasing Scottish and Gaelic language films remains strong, providing a platform for local stories to be told alongside international ones.
Tickets for rural venues can be purchased via Eventbrite. Visit An Lanntair for their events.
