An appeal has been issued for help locating a distressed otter spotted yesterday evening (Wed, May 22) at Clachan Sands.

It was reported near the beachside parking beyond the cemetery. Now, rescuers are asking for further sightings of the otter, as it requires veterinary treatment.

BDMLR Hebrides warn dog walkers to be vigilant as the otter will viciously defend itself.

If seen, members of the public are asked to call British Divers Marine Life Rescues Head Office immediately on 01825 765546 with the location, preferably using What3Words.

Photos or videos are helpful, but only if it is safe to do so, says the organisation. BDMLR Hebrides warns the public not to attempt to catch otters, as they are powerful and can be dangerous.
