Community-owned South Uist estate is inviting lease applications for their newly constructed building at Loch Carnan.

The building was developed for community use following a positive response to expressions of interest in the site and securing funding.

The estate said: “Stòras Uibhist strives to create an environment that supports economic growth, and the availability of facilities in which businesses can become established and grow is a major component of this strategy.”

The former building

A now demolished derelict fish farm unit previously occupied the site. Stòras Uibhist cleared the site of abandoned vehicles and fly-tipped waste and erected a new commercial unit with designated parking spaces.

The building is a standalone 405 square metre industrial unit of steel portal frame construction. It measures approximately 30 metres by 13.5 metres.

The deadline for completing lease application forms is Thursday, May 9 at 5 pm. The application forms will be independently assessed and scored, then reviewed by the Board of Directors.

Further details and the downloadable application form can be obtained from the Stòras Uibhist website.
