      Stornoway, Broadbay & Lochs news

Stornoway is set for a major spring cleaning on Saturday (April 13), thanks to Clean Coast Outer Hebrides.

The assembly point to blitz litter on the foreshore and other parts of the town is the King Edward Wharf (along from the older ferry berth) at 2 pm.

Clean Coast Hebrides, a registered charity, urges people to turn out and make a difference.

The event, subject to the kind weather, is being held in association with Surfers Against Sewage and the Scottish Island Federation.

Gloves and buckets will be provided.

However, Clean Coast Hebrides emphasises that it’s not just litter pickers who are needed. They also need volunteers to sign in volunteers, hand out kit, sort and weigh the litter, and volunteers to take pictures and ensure everyone is happy and safe.
