Blue carbon talk

Barra and Vatersay is a hotspot for climate emergency researchers and mitigation solutions.

You can find out more on Monday, April 22, when Prof. William Austin of the University of St Andrews will discuss “A solution for climate, people, and nature” at 6.30 pm in the UHI Barra Learning Centre.


Community tree planting

There will be a community tree-planting event on Wednesday, April 3, at the Northbay woodland, followed by lunch at Garadh a Bagh a Tuath.

Meet at the west end of the Bayherivagh road in Northbay for 10 am.

Access is over rough hill ground; volunteers should bring a spade, a strong bag or bucket, and gloves. Be prepared for the weather.


Easter Motiv8

Booking is now open for the children’s activity scheme at Castlebay Sports Centre or via the CnES Sport and Health app.

Motiv8 Barra will take place on Thursday and Friday, April 11 and 12, at Castlebay Sports Centre.
