The weather is having the upper hand again today (Tuesday, February 27), with the Barra ferry services being extensively disrupted over the next few days.

As previously reported, there is an amended timetable in place today to/from Lochboisdale as follows:

Depart Lochboisdale – 05:50
Arrive Oban – 12:50

Depart Oban – 13:20
Arrive Lochboisdale – 20:20

Passage times may vary as the ferry may divert via the Small Isles. CalMac warns that services will be liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice.

As a result, the following sailings are cancelled:

Depart Castlebay 05:50
Arrive Oban 11:25

Depart Lochboisdale 18:00
Arrive Castlebay 19:45

However, due to recent weather cancellations and to allow essential goods to travel to Barra, the following additional sailings will operate on the Sound of Barra service:

Depart Ardmhor – 20:15
Arrive Eriskay – 20:55

Depart Eriskay – 21:15
Arrive Ardmhor – 21:55

These sailings must be booked in advance to guarantee travel, CalMac reminds customers and will be liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice due to weather affecting the Lochboisdale service.

As a result of operating the later additional sailings, the following morning sailings have been cancelled:

Depart Ardmhor – 07:15
Arrive Eriskay – 07:55

Depart Eriskay – 08:10
Arrive Ardmhor – 08:50

Meanwhile, with the ferry expected to berth in Lochboisdale tonight, CalMac is looking at the options for the combined Lochboisdale/Castlebay - Oban service on Wednesday (February 28).

An update will be issued by CalMac this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Berneray-Leverburgh service is being dictated by the tidal conditions. Today’s timetable is as follows:

Depart Berneray – 08:00, 10:40
Depart Leverburgh – 09:20, 12:00
