Two Eriskay FC players are temporarily swapping Uist and Barra’s football fields for the Edinburgh Marathon to raise funds for the Western Isles Cancer Care Initiative.

Duncan MacInnes and Seumas Campbell hope to raise £1,000 for the charity. But they are almost halfway to their target before even setting foot in the capital.

On their online page at Crowdfunder, the footballers state: “The charity we have chosen to fundraiser for is the ‘Western Isles Cancer Care Initiative Group’. Having both lost loved ones to cancer, we understand the unbelievably hard and vital work this charity is doing. Across the Western Isles, it supports many families through what is an unimaginably challenging time.”

The Edinburgh Marathon takes place on Sunday, May 26. It takes in some of Edinburgh’s most iconic landmarks and offers picturesque views along the East Lothian coastline.
