Two further recordings of the later Màiri (Denny) MacDonald from Eoligarry are currently being featured on the Scottish audio archive Tobar an Dualchais ~ Kist o Riches.

The recordings, which date back to 1971, are of Màiri singing ‘Soraidh Bhuam Thar Chuan is Beannachd’, a popular song in praise of Barra composed by Màiri’s great uncle, Alasdair Ruairidh.

The second recording is a rendition of ‘Bhean Ud Thall Gu Dè Th’ orr’ Aire’, a waulking song Màiri she learnt from her aunt Kate (Buchanan).

Both recordings were captured by School of Scottish Studies researcher Ian Paterson.

Màiri was a niece of Captain Donald Joseph MacKinnon (An Eòsag) and Kate Buchanan.
