Seachdain na Gàidhlig (World Gaelic Week) next month is being marked in Grimsay’s Ceann na h-Àirigh with a series of free events focusing on literature, chat, and worship.

The week of events opens on Monday, February 19, at 7 pm with a get-together to consider some of Grimsay’s poetry, short stories and drama.

The second event is at 2 pm on Wednesday, February 21, when the topic will be old words and phrases at risk of being lost. Attendees can bring along a relevant object to show and tell others about.

The week ends at 3 pm on Thursday, February 22, with Gaelic worship in Ceann na h-Àirigh, which was once a church building.

Seachdain na Gàidhlig is organised by the Scottish traditional culture and music organisation Hands Up For Trad, with support from Bòrd na Gàidhlig and Creative Scotland.
