Care at Home Barra is a new service that provides care and support to people living in their own homes on the islands of Barra and Vatersay.
The service operates under a single Integrated Locality Manager, to meet the needs of the service users on Barra & Vatersay, following consideration of feedback from the service users, their families, and staff.
The recognition of the service helps bolster related efforts to enhance the opportunities for further service improvements.
Welcome changes are taking place throughout the entire Comhairle managed Care at Home services following agreement from the Integrated Joint Board to implement a service restructuring.
The creation of a career pathway includes the creation of a new post of Home Care and Reablement Worker, Grade E. This has been established to enhance career progression options, provide increased resilience in the service as well as supporting recruitment and retention.
The post of Home Care and Reablement Worker considers the knowledge, experience and skills of staff proficient in the delivery of personal care with a renewed focus on reablement and the mentoring of Home Care and Reablement Assistants.
