CalMac will be deciding whether to resume service on the Ullapool-Stornoway route later this afternoon (Tuesday, April 11) following problems with MV Loch Seaforth’s engine control system.

Yesterday, the technical hitch forced the cancellation of the 5.30 pm sailing form Ullapool and also this morning’s 2.50 am and 10.30 am departures from Ullapool. This had the knock-on effect of cancelling the 7am and 2pm sailings from Stornoway.

This morning Cal Mac said: “There will be a review approx. 14:00 for the 17:30 sailing from Ullapool.

But this came with the qualification that limited capacity would be available, and ferry users should consider the alternative Uig to Tarbert ferry link.
