The last ferry to Lochboisdale was cancelled today (Tuesday April 4). CalMac Ferries say: "Due to adverse weather forecast with strong winds, all sailings are cancelled on this route."

This means  – if plans stay as they are – there are no more ferries until Sunday May 14.

Additional ferries and a revised timetable are in operation between Ardmhor and Eriskay during these weeks.

Meanwhile CalMac is again reassessing vessel redeployment and is on course to announce a further round of sticking-plaster ferry arrangements later this week.

The announcement comes as the MV Finlaggan’s overhaul has been further delayed due to the ongoing disruption to the ferry operator’s annual overhaul programme.

The original overhaul date for the Finlaggan was, says CalMac, “part of the trigger for cancellations of Lochboisdale services and also the reduction of Small Isles service to be operated by a charter.”

Now they say: "Due to a technical issue with MV Finlaggan's forward winch, this service is liable to disruption/cancellation in unfavourable weather conditions.

"Forecasts will be continuously monitored, with any updates being provided the day before.  Parts are on order and updates regarding a repair will be given as soon as possible."

And they add: "Due to delays with the overhaul programme, MV Finlaggan will continue to operate a single-vessel timetable up to and including Friday 7 April."
