Another gale affecting Lewis, Harris, Shetland, Orkney and the Northern Highlands has hit ferry services today (Saturday January 27)

The UK Met Office says that “Gusts of 60-70 mph are likely quite widely whilst over Orkney and southern Shetland gusts may come close to 80 mph in a few places.

“Peak winds will occur during Saturday evening and night. Winds will then ease from the south and west later in the night and early Sunday morning.” A Yellow Alert has been issued for winds.

As a result of the weather conditions, CalMac has once again cancelled a range of services. The 11:50 sailing from Tarbert to Uig and the 18:15 sailing from Uig to Tarbert are cancelled today.

The 14:30 sailing from Stornoway to Ullapool and the 18:30 sailing from Ullapool to Stornoway are also cancelled.

Services to Lochmaddy from Uig and between Lochboisdale and Mallaig today (Saturday 27th January) are all cancelled for the remainder of the day.
