Three swimmers have successfully completed a 21-mile charity swim from the Flannan Isles to Ardroil beach, in Uig.

Stuart Baird, Ed Smith, and Colin Macleod left Lewis on Sunday August 13th aboard support vessel the MV ‘Cuma’, skippered by Murdanie MacDonald of Island Cruising, and sailed to the Flannan Isles before starting their charity swim at dawn on Monday, August 14th.

With support kayakers accompanying, the trio swam in relay formation in ‘challenging conditions’ with large sea swells and riptides, to land at Ardroil Beach in Uig, Lewis, around 8pm yesterday evening.
