Prospective Western Isles councillors are reminded to submit their nomination forms by 4pm this Wednesday, March 29th.
Anyone wishing to stand for the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar local government election – due to be held across the Outer Hebrides on Thursday, May 4th – must have their nomination form returned by the legal deadline.
And Returning Officer, Mr Malcolm Burr, said that it would be helpful if forms were returned as early as possible 'to allow the Election Team to conduct an informal check'.
Ballots for the local election will take place in each of the islands' nine wards on May 4th, each to return either three or four elected members.
The vast majority of the 31 incumbent councillors intend to stand again.
And successful council candidates will serve until 2022 – an extra year of term due to Scottish Parliament elections being pushed back by 12 months because of the UK elections in 2020.
Nominations forms can be obtained – and returned – to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar officers in Stornoway, Tarbert (Harris), Balivanich (Benbecula), and Castlebay (Barra).
