SC Seafoods - Fishmonger Sean Clarke and nephew Stephen Miller's new shop on Newton Street, Stornoway, opened today
A big smile, a warm welcome and a bit of chat – not to mention a wide range of fresh produce – is what's on offer when you step through the doors of Stornoway's latest fish shop SC Seafoods.
Buckie Fishmonger Sean Clarke has been serving up tasty treats to Western Isles residents for the past 16 years via his extremely popular fish van which tours the island chain, from the Uists to Ness, each week.
And now, with nephew Stephen Miller on board, Sean has opened his Stornoway shop – SC Seafoods – transforming the old Isles FM studios on Newton Street into a clean, fresh and spacious fishmongers.
As well as a large selection of fish, including smoked products and shellfish, SC Seafoods also offers west coasters the chance to sample something from the east coast, with Homebakery (Buckie) Ltd products for sale, including 'Aberdeen' butteries, softie rolls and sticky toffee loaf cake.
Fresh eggs are available and for something sweet there are also Krispy Kreme Doughnut selection boxes for sale at the new shop.
Sean and Stephen being kept busy this morning
Although Sean's van will be off the road this week he assures that the mobile fishmongers will start again soon once they've found their feet with SC Seafoods, which will be open Tuesdays to Fridays.
“It's exciting to see the shop up and running, it's the next step forward in the business; and it's a really proud day for me to have my nephew Stephen alongside me,” said Sean.
“We've already had familiar faces through the door and we're looking forward to welcoming all our regular customers to the new shop.”
