The Coastguard Rescue Teams successfully reunited dog and owner
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ness, Stornoway and Breasclete were called into action last night to rescue a dog which had gone over the cliffs at the Butt of Lewis.
The Coastguard Rescue Teams were called into action at around 7.15pm last night, Sunday 4th September, and successfully completed the rescue and handed the dog back to its owners unhurt by 8.30pm.
The Coastguard remind dog owners to be vigilant when walking their pets near island cliffs, saying: “Please remember to keep your dogs on leads when near cliff tops and if it does go over dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Do no attempt self rescue.”
