The Storm Abigail statement from WIEPCG this afternoon said that all Calmac ferry services to the Islands were cancelled for today and tomorrow. The wording was: "Caledonian MacBrayne has confirmed that all ferry services to and from the Western Isles are cancelled for Thursday and Friday."
However, it seems this statement is not wholly accurate. As reported on the EVENTS Facebook page, and on the CalMac website, the Hebrides sailed from Uig to Tarbert today. In addition, CalMac are asking all traffic booked onto the Hebrides for the 0730 service tomorrow from Tarbert to check-in by 0900 with a view to a departure soon after.
In addition, the afternoon sailing from Stornoway to Ullapool tomorrow is still scheduled, albeit on amber alert. For that matter, the Sound of Harris ferry is not shown by Calmac as cancelled tomorrow, only on amber alert. Even on the Sound of Barra, CalMac have only cancelled the first sailing tomorrow so far.
And the Oban to Castlebay and Lochboisdale service tomorrow afternoon is still scheduled to depart, although with a warning that the sailing may be disrupted or cancelled.

Other updates as of 1930 today (Thursday) the causeways to Vatersay and the Braighe road to Point are shut; the main road on North Uist is shut near Baleshare; and delays are reported to air services in and out of Stornoway airport, with the last plane to Glasgow now scheduled to leave at 2020.
