Breasclete and Bargar Coastguard Rescue Teams were called to the rescue yesterday evening (Thursday June 27th) when a woman fell and broke her ankle while visiting Carloway Broch.
Scottish Ambulance asked for Coastguard assistance at 6.40pm after finding that the casualty had fallen and was in a great deal of pain at the Broch itself – a considerable distance from the waiting ambulance in the car park below.
The two crews co-ordinated a stretcher lift and brought her down to the waiting paramedics, who took her onwards to Western Isles Hospital. All crews were stood down at 8pm. Miavaig CRT had also been tasked, but were stood down before reaching the casualty.
