Back Football and Recreation Club is today celebrating a £5,489 funding boost from SUEZ Communities Trust for their lighting redevelopment project.

Funding will allow the club to update and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of current lighting systems. The outdated, mismatched, awkward-to-work system will be replaced with a new, more intuitive LED system with PIR sensors.

Terri Davies, Sport and Community Project Coordinator at the club said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us, not only do we get to upgrade the lighting in the main hall and avoid those awful blackouts while the bulbs cool down but there will be no more hunting for light switches behind doors or in cupboards.

"This is something we’ve wanted to address for a long time and we are really grateful to the SUEZ Communities Trust for making it possible.”

Marek Gordon, Chairman of SUEZ Communities Trust added “SUEZ Communities Trust provides funding awards through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund – an important source of funding which came into effect in April 2015.

"The scheme is linked to the Scottish Landfill Tax and encourages landfill site operators to provide contributions to approved bodies, who can then pass the funds onto community and environmental projects. We were delighted to be able to offer funding to Back Football and Recreation Club.”

SUEZ Communities Trust is an independent funding body set up in 1997 and provides funding through the Landfill Communities Fund and Scottish Landfill Communities Fund. To date SUEZ Communities Trust has supported more than 3,900 projects to a combined value of over £110 million using tax credits donated by Suez Recycling and Recovery UK (formerly SITA UK).
