Teenage footballer Rachael Johnstone has achieved her goal this week, helping Scotland’s U16 women’s football team achieve a 2-2 aggregate draw over two friendly international challenges in Poland.

Rachael, 14, of Balallan, earned her first Scotland cap as she pulled on the number one jersey for Scotland on Wednesday (September 19th). She kept the goal in safe hands as her team held Poland to a 1-1 draw at Swiebodzin in the west of Poland.

The second leg match kicked off at 11am local time this morning (Friday September 21st) at a different ground at Babimost. This time Rachael was on the bench but the final score was the same at 1-1, an aggregate 2-2 result.

Rachael will return to school at Sir E Scott in Tarbert next week a local hero. She’ll continue to play and train with Stornoway Athletic’s u15 development team and with Lewis and Harris Women’s football club, awaiting the chance of future call-ups for her country.
