A Barra community project has secured £10,000 of community grant funding from the Western Isles Development Trust.

The trust, a charitable body that secures and disburses funding from renewable energy projects, congratulated Garadh a Bagh a Tuath on their award. The money is to be spent on their Carbon Neutral Northbay project.

The other main fund award was awarded to North Lochs Community Association in Lewis to upgrade the local community centre.

Several other Southern Isles community groups also won funding.

• Barra Clay Pigeon Club - Junior Summer Cup
• Feis Bharraigh - Samhradh 2023 – Summer 2023
