Uist and Barra Foodbank have launched an urgent appeal for food donations as they are running “desperately low” on some essential items.

As well as being low on many staples - except soup, cereals, beans, veg, tuna, and tea - the foodbank needs:

• UHT milk
• UHT juice or diluting juice
• Smash
• Tinned potatoes
• Rice

Foodbank spokesperson Janet Jevons Atkin said: “Thank you for your support; we appreciate everything we receive. Please leave at our drop-off points or our door, near the washing machine area.”
