RSPB Balranald and Hougharry have been a hotspot for bird enthusiasts this weekend.

While several corncrakes were spotted, they had to share the limelight among bird twitchers with dotterels and a raven.

Dotterels are waders mainly found in Scotland but very rare elsewhere in the UK. Likewise, ravens are uncommon visitors to the Western Isles. Hence, the visitor attracted the attention of the RSPB and ornithologists alike.
