Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has announced a shake-up in bin collections in Lewis and Harris due to take effect on Monday, May 29.
Under the new bin collection regime, organic food and garden waste (grey bin, yellow sticker and mixed recycling (blue bin) will be uplifted every three weeks.
Non-recyclable waste (grey bin with purple sticker) will also be collected on a three weekly basis.
The green glass bin, meanwhile, will be uplifted every nine weeks.
A spokesperson for the Comhairle explained: “We are making improvements to the waste and recycling collections in Lewis and Harris to make it easier and more efficient for everyone to recycle more of their household waste.
“By making these changes, it has been possible to extend our kerbside mixed recycling and glass collections to cover all areas of Lewis and Harris.
“These changes will also help to improve our overall recycling rates, reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfill, and help us to deliver our waste and recycling services more efficiently.”
