The SS Marloch Memorial at Lochboisdale Gateway Garden is well underway and beginning to take shape.
But supplies are running low, so a fresh appeal has gone out for croft stones throughout South Uist.
Groundbreaking began earlier this month at the site. The memorial marking the centenary of the SS Marloch migration will reflect the shape of the vessel that took the hundreds of islanders from Uist and Eriskay to new lives in Canada.
Stones from the South Uist croft houses left behind by the Marloch emigrants are being used to construct the memorial. However, the initial donation of stones is being rapidly depleted.
