A second-year PhD History of Science student is appealing for help with her dissertation that examines depictions of the Hebrides since the 1940s.

Zsuzsanna Dominika Ihar, from the University of Cambridge, is focussing on the politics of land use and governance.

Explains Zsuzsanna: “ I am particularly interested in the militarisation of the Western Isles and community responses to it. I will be in North Uist from April onwards and would love to speak to members of the local community -- whether about the Rockets Galore protests of the 40s, the Cold War period, or the proposed construction of the Spaceport Facility.

“Alongside conversations about militarisation, I would also love to speak to those involved in local and traditional agricultural projects.”
