Extension of quarry planning permission
Quarry company Breedon has asked the Comhairle to extend their planning permission for Druim Reallasger Quarry at Langass.
The company requests that the existing consent be extended by 15 years until March 31, 2038.
Druim Reallasger Quarry is an operational hard rock quarry located approximately 6 kilometres southwest of Lochmaddy, which supplies aggregates and fill products to construction projects in the local area.
The current consent to work the quarry is due to expire later this month, on Friday, March 31.
However, Breedon is looking for an extension as a circa 270,000-tonne mineral reserve remains within the existing site.
The proposed future extraction would take place within the existing permitted footprint.
The total permitted site area comprises 6.1 hectares, of which 3.5 hectares have planning permission for mineral extraction.
