Uist Science Festival has named Amanda McDowall as the overall winner of their photographic competition.

A total of 54 entries were received across the four categories.

Announcing the winning entries, Uist Science Festival said: “ The standard was extremely high, and we want to thank each and every one of you who entered a photo. It was very difficult to choose a winner, as every entry had its own qualities.

“In some categories, we also had runners-up. And for one category, we had few, as it was so close to call.”

Margaret Joan MacIsaac judged the anonymised photographs.
