A missing person appeal has been issued this afternoon (Sunday 19 March) as Stornoway police join the search for a Point woman and her teenage daughter.

Highlands and Islands Police have appealed for public help tracing 57-year-old Catherine Costello and her 13-year-old daughter Eve Pender, missing from their home in Lewis.

The pair were last seen at the main Inverness bus station, Farraline Park, on Margaret Street at around 2pm on Wednesday, 22 February.

They were reported missing to police on Friday, 17 March and enquiries are now under way to trace them and ensure they are safe and well.

The mother and daughter stay in Lewis, but are known to travel throughout Scotland frequently, regularly visiting Glasgow.

Police said they could be staying in hotel or B&B accommodation and could also have been travelling within the highland area.

Anyone who has seen Catherine or Eve since Wednesday, 22 February or anyone with information on their whereabouts should contact Police Scotland on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 3089 of 17 March.
