Drivers charged on offences
A 37-year-old man is at risk of losing his car if he fails to take note of a penalty issued to him by police on Friday morning (3 February).
The man was stopped on Bayhead in Stornoway at 10.20am and was issued with a vehicle ASBO due to his manner of driving.
If he commits this or any similar offence over the next 12 months, the vehicle will be taken from him.
Two drivers were each issued with a £100 fine on Friday, after being found without valid MOT on their vehicles in two separate incidents in Stornoway town centre.
A 40-year-old man and a man aged 59 were stopped at different times and different locations within the town during Friday afternoon and were both issued with fixed penalties.
Appeal over vandalism
Police are asking for the help of people in the Leurbost area after an incident of vandalism on Kennedy View on Saturday (4 January).
Around 1pm a rear window in a home was broken by a thrown object, and police are asking anyone who heard, saw or who knows anything to contact them on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident number CR/0011949/23.
Reported over theft
Police were called to a residential address in Stornoway at 9pm on Saturday (4 February) to reports of disorderly behaviour by a man aged 40.
The man was arrested and charged with theft and was released from custody when sober. He’s to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Abusive behaviour charge
A man is to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal over his behaviour in the early hours of today (Sunday 5 February).
The 37-year-old man was acting in a threatening and abusive manner towards police officers on Point Street in the town centre at 1.45am today when he was warned and his details taken.
